Nippon Steel Corporation (Nippon Steel) will launch ZAM^®-EX, highly corrosion- resistant coated steel sheets for overseas markets.

Nippon Steel and the former Nippon Steel Nisshin Co., Ltd. (NSN) have been selling highly corrosion resistant coated steel sheets, SuperDyma (SD) and ZAM, in overseas markets since 2000. Even after the merger of the two companies in April 2020, the new company has continued selling SD as well as ZAM. Starting with new orders, we will sell our highly corrosion resistant coated steel sheets for overseas markets under the new brand name, ZAM^®-EX. We will also offer useful life guarantees for ZAM^®-EX in overseas markets in a certain corrosive environment. Our enhanced versatility for highly corrosion resistant coated steel sheets will satisfy customer expectation.

1. Background of the launch of ZAM^®-EX
Nippon Steel and NSN developed and started to sell highly corrosion resistant coated steel sheets  under the brands SD and ZAM in 2000, targeting areas where their high corrosion resistant performance against hot-dip galvanizing (GI) can be utilized, and demand in such areas is growing steadily. Meanwhile, in overseas markets, our competitors have been releasing similar products in the relevant areas, causing the competition to intensify. In an effort to strengthen the marketability of our products in these circumstances, we have decided to sell the products under the new brand name ZAM^®-EX for new orders.

In recent years, our customers, mainly in the field of solar power, from which demand for highly corrosion resistant coated steel sheets is growing, often request us to offer useful life guarantees for our products. Based on the extensive track record of being used for more than 20 years since the launch of SD and ZAM, we have decided to offer guarantees as one of a new values for ZAM^®-EX.

 
2. Marketing policy for ZAM^®-EX
(1) Scope of ZAM^®-EX
Nippon Steel will sell ZAM^®-EX for new orders for JIS standard highly corrosion resistant coated steel sheets for overseas markets. Please note that we will continue to sell SD and ZAM for customers who currently purchase them under the SD and ZAM brands.
(2) Offering 20 to 25 years guarantee
Nippon Steel will guarantee for up to 20 to 25 years, ensuring that there will be no hole up to the period in a certain corrosive environment, on an individual contract basis in response to customer requests mainly for solar power applications.
(3) Start of sales
